Scrapbook Layouts Ideas#1

This post marks the start of our weekly scrapbook layout ideas discussion. Every week I will try to discuss new and simple scrapbook ideas for your scrapbook layouts.

Our first scrapbooking layout is a layout I made for Scraptivity Forum.

Our first scrapbook idea is about creating a clean and simple scrapbook layout.

Let us first define Simple Scrapbooking. It will be easierfor us to define the word "simple" first. Simple means pure, smooth and plain. Hence, a simple scrapbook layout is a layout that depicts the above characteristics.

Scrapbooking in its simplest form includes photo, paper and scissors. The most important aspect of scrapbooking is the life memories that we are trying to restore trough our scrapbooking layouts. This is the real essence of scrapbooking.

How can we create a simple scrapbook layout? Simple scrapbook layouts are a product pf photo, journalling paper, cardstock and basic supplies like scissors and adhesive. A lot of scrapbookers adhere on this basic principle. You will be amaze on how they can create stunning pages with simple styles.

Below is another layout that I made purely using one pattern paper and cardstock.

Embracing the concept of simple scrapbooking layouts does not mean that you will create boring scrapbook layouts. Simple is a relative term. There are ways on how we can show simplify our photo placement, embellishment usage and paper layering. In short, simple means simplifying your scrapbooking techniques to attain that stunning and well balanced layouts.

You can still apply the concept of simple and clean scrapbooking even if you will use scrapbooking embellishment. The point is how will you controll and arrange your elements in a way that it will create a smooth and clean feel in your overall project.

I find that creating simple layouts makes you focus more on your memories and create more scrapbook page layouts in one sitting. Time is so valuable for us and simple layouts are so easy to finish.  It is also economical and practical. We all know how scrapbooking supplies are quite expensive nowadays. Stretching your materials is the best way to maximize it.

I added a video by the talented Tammy Mitchell doing a simple layout. She made the layout just in five minutes. And indeed the result is s pretty and clean scrapbook layout.

Personally this is why I love simple scrapbooking layouts. They are so easy to do. I learned that one thing that intimidates novice scrappers is the fact that scrapbooking is time consuming and an expensive hobby. If you have this thinking, I suggest that you watch the video and see how you can make a scrapbook layout in five minutes with limited supplies.

Here are simple tips that I think will be useful for scrapbookers like me.

• Practice making layouts with basic and simple scrapbooking supplies.
• Let your creativity works and make wonders on your scrapbook layouts
• Learn photo image tweaking and other ways to enhance your photos
• Draw a scrapbook sketch before you start your scrapbook layouts
• Always incorporate journalling in your scrapbook page layouts
